Motorhomes are a great way to travel or vacation on your own terms. A recreational vehicle, also called RV, is usually a large vehicle, usually long-bedded, with living quarters primarily designed for temporary lodging. Many types of RVs have additional amenities such as appliances, furniture, and pools, as well as large sleeping areas. They may not have a shower.
There are four classes of recreational vehicles. There is the Class A motorhome, which has an open drive and no locking drives. The Class B motorhomes are smaller and more elegant than the class A motorhomes. The Class C motorhomes have a full-size camper with the option of having an extended cab.
Class D motorhomes have many of the features of a Class A vehicle, but the actual size is much smaller and for fewer people. The final type of recreational vehicles, the Class E motorhome, has many of the comforts of a home, but is the largest. It generally sleeps eight people comfortably, although it is possible for it to sleep six people if it is large enough. Most Class E motorhomes offer more storage space than Class A and C motorhomes.
A campervan is a small car that is pulled by a van or truck. The smallest campervan is usually only comfortable for three people. The larger campervan options, generally called caravanvans or travel trailers, can sleep eight people comfortably. Campervans allow the driver ease of use and versatility when traveling on unfamiliar ground. Many campervan manufacturers offer optional accessories like appliances, grills, TVs and even stereos. A motorhome that is RVs or campervan includes all of the equipment necessary to live comfortably inside.
Motorhomes tend to be more expensive than campervan rentals. This is because we buy any motorhome that are considerably more complex and are made of more materials. Although they may appear less expensive initially, the maintenance and fuel costs associated with owning a campervan will quickly add up.
The living space in motorhomes consists of a kitchen and one or two bedrooms. These spaces are sometimes referred to as bunks because they are usually used to sleep larger individuals. Most motorhomes have some type of kitchen along with at least one bedroom. Most of the time, there is a sleeping space in a riva or somewhere else on the RV. It is not uncommon to have several sleeping areas on campervan trailers.
Campervans tend to be cheaper to run and maintain than motorhomes since they are made of lighter materials and are not as intensively constructed. They tend to have fewer amenities and can have basic amenities like running water and sewer lines, although more modern models can include air conditioning, electricity and various other amenities. Gasoline prices are typically higher in mobile homes and RVs.
Both campervan and motorhomes fall into one of three basic classifications based on the number and kinds of equipment and amenities included. RVs are classified as high-end recreational vehicles, medium-end motorhomes or economy class. Some of the major differences between these types of vehicles include interiors, features and extras, pricing and more. Each of the three classifications has its pros and cons.
High-end motorhomes are often referred to as true Class A motorhomes and the luxury varieties of these types of motorhomes are usually also referred to as C Class motorhomes. These motorhomes are extremely lavish with full kitchens, stainless steel appliances, marble and hardwood floors and more. A Class A motorhome typically has many luxurious features, but it can cost thousands of dollars to build and may not be affordable for most families. These types of motorhomes can also accommodate several passengers.
Class B motorhomes, which are mid-priced, are mid-size RVs that are generally built on a semi-permanent foundation. They look like regular RVs but often have more floor space and have larger living areas and bedrooms. The interiors are usually like an apartment or studio and seating for six to eight people is common. There are many accessories, including kitchenettes, cabinets, appliances and more, but the base of the unit is usually made of lightweight metal and will not be covered in fabric. A class b motorhome can be the perfect choice for someone who wants to enjoy the charm of a small town with all the amenities of the big city, but who doesn’t want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The third type of motorhome is the campervan. Campervans are smaller RVs that are easy to tow behind a truck or utility trailer. Most of the time they have enough room for one or two adults but there are many companies that offer Class A and B campervans that can fit two people and their luggage. These campervans offer all of the comforts of home, like TV sets, refrigerators, stoves and even bathrooms. People who camp frequently but who do not want to invest in full accommodations will often select a class A or B campervan. These motorhomes are very popular for those who like to go hiking and camp.
Motorhomes range from small single family units to huge rigs that have features like an outside kitchen and a dining room. Some of the larger motorhomes also have larger bathrooms and living areas. There are many different types of motorhomes available so it is important to understand the differences between various types of RVs before choosing one. Most dealers will offer RVs based upon class and size of the vehicle. By understanding the differences in these three types of RVs you will be able to narrow down your search for the right RV for you.
